hen it came time for training sessions, ethan had a talent for making himself scarce. while his failure to attend was noticed, the trainer could do very little to force ethan to show up. no matter what they threatened him with, ethan always found a way to fight back. it helped that he made friends in all the right places too. by now, they had give up on trying to chase him down and just let him do as he pleased. so it came as quite a surprise to everyone when ethan arrived that morning, dressed and on time. everyone found it strange, especially the trainers, but they kept their mouths shut and hoped that it would become a regular thing. ethan kept his mouth shut as he followed the small group in their warm-up run. even throughout the rest of the training, he was obedient as ever. however, ethan was up to something, and the only hint he gave was the mischievous grin he couldn't hide.
as unsettling as it was to the others, no one said anything. towards the end of their sessions, the trainers had even let their guard down. they were ready to silently thank whomever they prayed to. during their warm-down jog, a small device rolled towards the center of the field. the second it was noticed, someone yelled at the top of their lungs, and immediately, people were running for cover. one of the trainers even let out a shrill screech as he dived behind a wall. ethan was already gone by the time the device exploded. while the explosion was harmless, ethan could hear the roar of anger as he jogged away, laughing. the rain started a few seconds before anybody could piece together what had happened. to add insult to injury, ethan made sure to lock the doors as he headed back into the underground bunker. it would be a while before they managed to get back inside and track him down. it gave ethan enough time to sneak into the cafeteria.
ethan had managed to make friends in all the right places and with the kitchen staff, they would sneak him a little extra food. not bothering to sit down at the tables, ethan took his food and headed back to his room. he didn't have any plans for the day, and there was no way he was going to be forced into doing anything. by the time he headed back, the thunderstorm outside was in full force. despite the fact they were underground, the floors and ceiling still shook with each strike of thunder. it didn't bother ethan much. instead, he found it rather soothing. it was a good day to be lazy and lounge around. he opened the door to his room and placed the tray on the cot. he wasn't supposed to have his own room, but after a few carefully placed explosives, they finally gave in. now, it was more of a reason for ethan to stay locked away.
kicking off his shoes, ethan first made his way to the bathroom to get cleaned up. he hummed softly to himself as he turned on the water. it wasn't until he was halfway through washing his hands, that he noticed the figured in the bathtub. "jesus christ!" he yelped, turning suddenly. water and soap flew everywhere as ethan grabbed the sink to steady himself. it took him a moment to catch his breath before he turned and finished washing his hands. grabbing a towel, ethan cleaned up his small mess, and sat down next to the bathtub. "scared me half to death there," ethan grinned and placed the towel on the edge of the bathtub. "what are you doing here, pandora?"
