bring me back to fallen town,
where someone is still alive.
"look, i'm only saying this one more time, jason." growled a very hungry, and very fed up mackenzie walker. "we don't have the advil for your hangovers- we barely have the patience for them anymore. i gave you your last set of pills yesterday. maybe you should start drinking some water. or, better yet. how about you start going out on raids to get more medication for your addictions?" her eyes had been counting her dried herb collection at the time that those words had left her lips, but by the time she felt the grip on the back of her neck, she instantly lost count, and her eyes were clenched in a mix of fear and confusion.
before she had time to react, or jason for that matter, one of her fellow medics had ahold of jason's shirt collar, and had his forehead implanted into kenzie's herb cabinet wall. immediately, jason released kenzie's neck, and she skipped out of the way, her hands lingering along the exposed skin his hand had just been occupying. inhaling deeply, she counted backwards in her head from ten to one, willing herself to calm down and to gather herself again. swallowing the lump in her throat, she weakly smiled towards her hero in thanks, nodding in agreeance when he suggested she go take her lunch a little earlier than she'd been planning. taking the time to shrug her lab throwover off, and to lock up her cabinet (completely ignoring the indented splinters of wood from jason's forehead), it wasn't long before she was toeing her way out the door of the medic wing and was on her way towards the cafeteria.
by the time she'd gotten there, the lunch rush had already been through, and most of what was left was leftover. the cooks were busy getting ready more things to serve, but kenzie wasn't all that willing to wait around any longer before at least nibbling on an appetizer. making her way to the tray station, she picked one up and started down the row of pick-able items, something that was usually full of harvested fruits and small portions of vegetables. currently, there were only a small handful of items leftover, but kenzie's hand grasped onto a ripe green apple, and she lifted it up to her mouth to bite a chunk out of automatically anyway. it didn't take a whole lot to impress mackenzie's stomach, especially if it didn't involve meat.
the vegetarian had grabbed a few slices of homemade bread, a bottle of water, and was about to inspect the fruit cups that were leftover when she felt a sudden nudge. she jostled into the rack in front of her, and if it hadn't been for her love over war nature, she would've already been crying out a few curses under her breath. "just your day, zie." she muttered to herself as she grabbed her fallen over water bottle, thankful she'd kept the lid fastened on it, almost reluctant to see who'd been the one to accidentally bump into her.
