BRIAR ANNE BELENKO
I dreamt of a fever, One that would cure me of this cold, winter set heart. With heat to melt these frozen tears. Burned with reasons as to carry on.

PERSONALITY
naïve , although she’s a wonderful opponent on the battle field she doesn’t know much about emotions and humans. she’s unsure of herself when she’s placed in certain positions. for example, if someone showed love interest in her she wouldn’t be able to register it as love. she’d be confused if someone asked her to date and she would most likely ask them to define ‘dating.’ there’s a lot of things she doesn’t know about or understand but that doesn’t mean she’s not intelligent. there’s quite a bit of things she does know about—examples: combat, strategy, useful medical herbs, etc. her parents taught her how to be prepared and how to gain knowledge about anything. she believes it’s best to be prepared.
blunt , there is no sugar coating when it comes to briar. she will tell it like it is because she doesn’t see the point in going around the subject. especially when it comes down to the same point. this also makes her direct and upfront. if someone has a problem with her, she addresses it head on. she also expects the same courtesy extended to herself. briar doesn’t play games like that, she finds them wasteful.
focused , practicing her combat skills as well as keeping in shape is essential to her and her survival (as well as her comrades). she can be found practicing or training a lot of the time (if she’s not listening to music or playing her violin). she also likes to create new techniques or try out different combinations to see if they work or if they don’t. whenever she is beaten in a match she likes to sit down and analyze the match, pinpoint her mistakes, and then practice to see if she can correct them. eventually, she’ll ask whomever beat her for a rematch and will only be satisfied if she has beaten the said person. otherwise she’ll feel like a failure. there is little that clouds her judgment or takes her out of her focused state, this is what makes her to be a successful warrior.
other , despite the fact she has no friends or lovers, she’s not unhappy. of course she is curious about such emotions and she finds them to be amusing when she’s watching others become affected (like people in love or arguing about trivial matters). she just doesn’t know what she’s missing and thus, she isn’t unhappy.

HISTORY
Briar was not a planned child. Her parents had no interest in raising children and when they did think about it, they only thought about passing on their genes. Her mother, Anna, and her father, Victor, were both hired by Scar years earlier (after they moved to the states from Ukraine). They were both intelligent people who believed in gene splicing and creating artificial life. They like to be able to explore options and understand how the world around them works and see if they could create the same thing, but better. Briar’s parents were not the typical sort. They were not affectionate toward one another, they simply co-existed and understood one another in a way that no one else could. They are two pieces cut from the same cloth – so to speak.
However, when Anna figured out she was pregnant she was not upset. She decided it was a good thing to be able to pass along their genes and to have somebody expand on their work once they parish – unless they developed an age serum that extended their years. Anyway, Briar was born in the Scar facility and was raised and taught by her parents. Both of her parents would teach her academics and useful tools to survive – one of which was to never act on emotions and that emotions were bad things. They implored her not to delve into her emotions and to always use her brain – to think rationally and logically. Never let your heart rule your head, her father always told her.
And so, Briar grew up with a void of emotions. It wasn’t that she couldn’t register pain or a physical need (like hunger). She was able to take care of herself but she didn’t meddle in things like love, jealousy, or hate. if someone were to describe to her what the emotions felt like, she wouldn’t understand them but she doesn’t care. She doesn’t feel the need to understand emotions and is content with her life the way it is.
When the outbreak occurred, little changed for Briar. She was among the Delta Team because her expertise centered around combat and strategy. She was no scientist like her parents, not that she wasn’t intelligent, but strategy and fighting are her natural abilities and her parents found it best to nurture those talents. When Gambit became a traitor, she (along with others) moved up in ranks and she took over lead scout. This is where she currently stands today.

INVENTORY
SCAR MEMBER
- machete , she likes the way it feels in her hands and how easy it is for her to use. it's quieter than a gun and much more graceful. it's her preferred choice.
- m4 carbine (fully automatic) , she keeps it in her room and doesn't feel the need to carry it around with her all of the time. she keeps one just in case something should occur.
- serrated knife , this little baby is hidden somewhere on her body - her calf, bra, waist, always somewhere different. it's a weapon to pull in case of immediate danger. a backup, more or less.
- ipod , it's the newest addition and has all of her favorite music stored onto it. just because there are infected people running around doesn't mean that she has to give up her music.
- violin , she adores playing the violin, ever since she was a young girl. sometimes she plays for scientists and those that are in need of a "pick-me-up."
- a box of cigarettes , she doesn't smoke them unless she comes across a group of people who are going out for a smoke break or who area already smoking. plus, she thinks it looks cool.
